Lafayette is an important pianist on the music scene in NYC today.
He is popular enough to share the stage with jazz artists like Houston Person, Ernestine Anderson, and Roswell Rudd and to host his own events at well known NYC venues like The Lenox Lounge, The Blue Note and Smalls.
In years past he has played with and arranged for the great Max Roach one of the inventors of modern jazz as well as the worlds greatest drummer. He was the last pianist for this great jazz icon.
Lafayette still hosts an open mic every Sunday 7-11 at The Lenox Lounge in Harlem (Since 2002)
as the host and bandleader.
Lafayette has 6 CD's as a leader and another on the way for 2012.
His recordings have also included the great jazz vocalists Anita O'day (Indestructable, her last recording) and the last 3 CD's by Ernestine Anderson all on Highnote Records.
